ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — There’s a new team taking the field at Ashwaubenon’s Capital Credit Union Park.
It’s actually not a new team–it’s the Green Bay Booyah, but they’ll be wearing different jerseys and going by a different name during their home games on Sunday nights throughout the season.
The Green Bay G.O.A.T.S, that’s ‘Greatest of All Time”, will pay tribute to the other sports team in town–the Green Bay Packers.
“There have been so many great players that have come through and played with the Packers throughout the years,” said Booyah General Manager John Fanta of how the idea began. “Why don’t we do a greatest of all time tribute using all those numbers from all the great legendary Packers players?”
Each Booyah player will wear the number of a Packer great, and there will be plenty in it for the fans.
“We’re just going to do more,” said Fanta. “Obviously the theme will change on the field, but we have a few other surprises in store. We’ve got a bobble head giveaway towards the end of the year, too.”
The G.O.A.T.S will take the field for the first time this coming Sunday against the Lakeshore Chinooks.
