ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — You’ll hear a new voice at Capital Credit Union Park at Green Bay Booyah games this summer.
The Booyah held tryouts earlier this month for a new PA announcer after that position opened up during the offseason. Booyah spokesman Brian Kuklinski says the Public Address position is more important than most people think.
“The lifeblood of any one of our games is our PA guy,” said Kuklinski. “He’s the one who keeps the crowd entertained, gets them into it, gets to make some noise and gets the players pumped up.”
Eight people tried out for the role, including a De Pere Nurse, a former broadcasting personality, and a few regional high school public address talents.
Ultimately picked was Tony Giordana, a broadcasting student and play-by-play announcer at St. Norbert’s College.
“I was a fan of the Booyah when they were still the Green Bay Bullfrogs, so it’s nice to see that come full circle and be the the in-arena voice for the Green Bay Booyah,” Giordana told WTAQ. “I look forward to it.”
He was delighted to come aboard.
It was a great phone call I got from Brian,” said Giordana. “I was very excited about it. I think this is gonna be a great opportunity.”
Opening day for the Booyah is June 1st against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders.
