GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — With many restrictions lifting this summer, many are planning trips again.
And according to a Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau travel survey, some are headed to Green Bay.
The CVB surveyed 1,998 people in an online questionnaire from March 19 through April 2, 2021.
Of those who answered, 65% surveyed have visited Green Bay at least once, with 30% living in the Green Bay area who consider themselves “local.”
When asked questions about their intentions to travel in the coming months as we emerge from the pandemic. 89% plan to take a leisure trip in the next 6 months, with 51% saying they are headed to Green Bay and 93% stated they feel comfortable traveling to Green Bay.
The survey also revealed, 62% feel it is ‘very important or extremely important’ to be vaccinated for COVID-19 before traveling.
In 2020, research firm Tourism Economics estimated Brown County, Wisconsin had 4.7 million visitors who spent $476 million on food, recreation, transportation, accommodations and shopping. This was a spending decrease of 34% from 2019 figures. Brown County tourism generated $37.8 million in local taxes.
