GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Many fans have their own varying opinions on what to make of the news of MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers wanting to leave the Packers.
Should he stay in green and gold? Or should he “pass” on to the next team? Those are the questions Packer fans are asking themselves after reports of Rodgers wanting out.
“I think he’s the leader of our team and just any indication of him not wanting to be here is bad,” said Leah Weycker of Green Bay.
“I thought the writing was on the wall, he’s been going Hollywood for a while,” said Willy Cornelius of De Pere.
If the rumors are true, and Rodgers is the one looking to leave, some are ready to say goodbye.
“Now that he made this announcement? Go,” said Weycker.
“There’s too much done already,” said Cornelius. “I think his bags are packed, I’ll help him move if he wants.”
While the future of Rodgers playing inside Lambeau next season is in question, some fans have an idea of where they think he might want to go next.
It involves taking over the job he’s openly talked about wanting. What is Jeopardy!
“I think he’s going to take Trebek’s job, I think that’s the job he really wants,” said Pete Hillesheim of Green Bay.
“Who is Aaron Rodgers? I guess that’s the appropriate response,” said Matt Williams of Aurora.
As for a QB replacement, fans are “loving” the idea of Jordan Love taking the field next season.
“Packers didn’t draft him to sit there on the bench, next man up, right?” said Williams.
“He got a year to sit under Rodgers, learn how to study, watch film it’s time to go,” said Cornelius. “They wasted a first round draft pick on a quarterback.”
Now fans say all eyes are on the draft these next few nights.
