GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ) — The President of Fox Valley Technical College is calling it a career.
Dr. Susan May announced her retirement on Wednesday.
“After 43 years as an educator and 38 at Fox Valley Technical College and accomplishing quite a number of things there I think the timing is right,” May told WTAQ on Wednesday. “I always had great people to work with. The college has had great community members serving as on our board of trustees and they’ve been very supportive along the way as well.”
May joined FVTC in the 1980’s after spending time as a high school teacher. She spent 13 years as the school’s president.
She says one of her proudest achievements is the continued development of the school’s regional campuses.
“They started out, when I first joined the college, as storefront operations. Old storefronts in a few communities,” May said. “Now, they are modern well equipped facilities.”
The school will begin searching for her replacement immediately.
She hopes the next generation of leadership holds true to the current direction of the school.
“The direction has to continue to be responsive,” said May. “And progressive from and educational standpoint.”
Her retirement will be effective July 31st. She says she’s not sure what she’ll do after retirement, but that figuring that out is the first thing on her list.
