GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay School District will expand to four-day-a-week in-person classes next month.
It’s a relief for parents like Melissa Stitz, whose son has had to go through his senior year almost entirely virtually.
“It’s great news,” Stitz told WTAQ. “We’re grateful for the teachers, the faculty, the staff that have been supporting the kids as they return to school.”
Earlier this month, the district began two-day-a-week in-person classes. Stitz says while that hasn’t been perfect, her son has given it a good review.
“As a parent, you ask ‘how did today go? What was it like?'” Stitz recalled. “He said it was different, but he said ‘I learned more today than what I’d learned in probably the last 4 months doing all-virtual.'”
The four-day schedule will start April 12th, meaning students will get a little over a month of expanded in-person learning before school is set to adjourn for the year on June 9th. Wednesday will remain a full virtual learning day to allow district staff time to clean school buildings. Families can choose to remain or transition to fully virtual learning.
