OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The return of spring brings with it the return of outdoor siren testing.
Winnebago County Emergency Management says its siren tests will take place on Saturdays at noon, beginning April 3. They will run through September, or possibly longer, depending on the weather.
Tests will be canceled if severe weather or other serious conditions are imminent.
Winnebago County will also participate in the statewide mock tornado drill on April 15.
Emergency management officials remind the public that outdoor sirens are meant to alert people who are outdoors to the potential for severe weather.
For more complete warning, Emergency Management recommends a NOAA Weather Radio. They are available at various retailers, and also at the records window of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost at the sheriff’s office is $26.15. Only cash and checks are accepted.
The free FOX 11 Weather App can also alert you to imminent severe weather threats. Learn more here.
