GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A new round of stimulus checks are hitting peoples bank accounts and mailboxes, and that comes with yet another warning from the Better Business Bureau.
If you’re getting emails, texts, or calls telling you to apply for you stimulus check or pay a small processing fee to receive the money – don’t respond or click on any links.
“Do not need to complete any online form or provide any social security numbers or bank account information to receive your stimulus check…Provide a small processing fee so that their stimulus check could be loaded onto a prepaid debit card, that is a scam as well. you do not need to pay up front to receive your stimulus check,” said Susan Bach of the Better Business Bureau. “The IRS is supposedly text messaging you. The IRS doesn’t do that unless you’ve explicitly given them permission…Don’t reply to anything in that text message. You should go out to the Internet, search for that government agency, and find the contact information on their official website.”
