FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Charges have been filed in connection with a police chase and standoff last week.
Louis Stone, 34, was charged Monday with seven counts, including: first-degree recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment, attempted battery of an officer, and eluding an officer. No initial court date in Fond du Lac court has been scheduled.
Paulina Meshiguad, 30, was charged Monday with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and eluding an officer for the March 9 incident. An initial court appearance was planned for Monday afternoon, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint:
An officer noted a vehicle which registered 93 mph in a 55 mph zone, and tried to pull the vehicle over. It did not, and a chase ensued, reaching speeds of 105 mph.
An officer performed a PIT maneuver — intentionally hitting the vehicle to cause the driver to lose control — and the vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of State 175 and State 49, in Dodge County.
“(An officer) got out of his patrol car and approached the Lincoln with his firearm drawn. The driver of the Lincoln, later identified as Louis Stone, got out of the Lincoln with a large butcher knife held to his neck. Stone yelled “(Expletive) kill me! (Expletive) do it!” Stone then went back into the Lincoln. Deputies gave Stone multiple commands to drop the knife, which he did not do. (The officer) noted the defendant (Meshiguad), and saw a car seat in the back of the Lincoln. Deputies gave the defendant orders to exit the vehicle, which she attempted to comply with. As the defendant attempted to get out, Stone grabbed her and pulled her back into the Lincoln. Stone continued to yell profanities at law enforcement; threatening to kill himself,” the complaint states.
After Stone surrendered, Meshigaud told police she tried to get Stone to pull over, but he would not.
But Stone told police “that while he was fleeing, the defendant was using Google Maps, on her cell phone, and directing him on where to go; acting as a navigator for his fleeing,” the complaint states.
The couple had a 5-month-old child in the car during the incident, according to the complaint.
