MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Coronavirus activity continues to decline in Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services confirmed 502 new infections Thursday, or 12% of the 4,195 tests reported. There were no new deaths reported.
Seven-day averages declined to 363 cases and eight deaths.
The state’s weekly dashboard also showed a shrinking trajectory of virus activity, though the state as a whole was still listed in the “high” category.
Menominee County was the only county in Northeast Wisconsin, and one of two in the state, to be listed in the “low” category.
Florence, Kewaunee, Calumet, Fond du Lac and Green Lake counties were listed in the “medium” category. All other area counties were listed in the “high” category. Waupaca, Marinette and Waushara counties had growing trajectories. All other area counties had shrinking trajectories or no significant change.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 568,352 confirmed cases and 6,524 deaths. As of Thursday, DHS considered 555,199 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, DHS reported a total of 1,837,885 doses of vaccine having been administered so far. Among the whole state population, 19.7%, or 1,149,800 people, had received at least one dose, and 11.1%, or 647,108 people, had completed their vaccinations. Among those 65 and older, 64.8% had received at least one shot and 35.1% were fully vaccinated.
Overall hospitalizations were expected to be updated later Thursday afternoon.
