GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The winter weather is finally in retreat.
That means area road crews are assessing the damage.
“I’d say the state of our roads is as good or maybe a little better than it has been after previous winters,” said Green Bay Public Works Operations Manager Chris Pirlot.
That said, Green Bay crews still filled up around 1,300 pot holes last week alone.
It’s the “Freeze/Thaw” cycle during the winter that creates most seasonal road damage.
“Any winter is tough on roads you have freeze/thaws, multiple freeze/thaws,” said Brown County Public Works Director Paul Fontecchio. “It’s always tough on roads. That’s why the roads deteriorate as fast as they do in the northern climates.”
Crews are gearing up for the spring maintenance season.
