OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The state’s top sturgeon biologist has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of stealing sturgeon eggs.
Ryan Koenigs was charged in connection with a larger investigation into the processing of sturgeon eggs into caviar.
Koenigs was released on a $500 signature bond. He is due back in court June 11.
Koenigs also faces an obstruction charge in Calumet County for allegedly lying to investigators.
He is scheduled to make an initial appearance on those charges April 19.
