MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A local artist helped add to an art exhibit, which recently opened in Manitowoc.
The “Portrait of Manitowoc” exhibit opened last Sunday at the Rahr-West Art Museum.
It’s a community art project. Artist Sonia Vasquez was adding more portraits to it on Saturday.
The collaboration involves both portraits she paints and self-portraits from community members.
It’s meant to celebrate the diversity of Manitowoc.
“We wanted to marry the idea of what I do as an artist, anyway, and community art,” said Vasquez. “So that means combining classical portraiture and community art, and I feel like you don’t necessarily see that very often.”
The exhibit is open until June 6th.
