GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two of the suspects charged in connection with the murder of a teenager during a drug deal will wait until after the alleged shooter’s trial before they might plead out to their charges in the case.
Federico Abarca, 18, was shot and killed during a drug deal for marijuana vaping cartridges on Feb. 22, 2019. Colton Kehoe, Jared Williquette, Jarid Stevens and Gavin Rock were charged in the case.
Green Bay police said Rock set up a drug deal with Abarca on Snapchat. The four went to Abarca’s apartment planning to steal five vaping cartridges that contained THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. A dispute occurred, and Williquette allegedly shot Abarca, although Williquette’s previous attorney contended it was self-defense.
Williquette is scheduled to stand trial May 3.
Rock, 19, and Stevens, 22, were scheduled to enter pleas and be convicted Wednesday, but their attorneys said they now want to wait to see how Williquette’s trial turns out before that might happen. Both men return to court May 17.
Kehoe was previously sentenced to 18 years in prison after being convicted of being party to reckless homicide.
