APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Outagamie County announced Monday that the Fox Cities COVID-19 vaccine clinic will reopen public registration beginning Tuesday, February 16.
The clinic says it vaccinated the 4,700 individuals that were on the waitlist between February 9-11.
According to Outagamie County, those who have an appointment for Tuesday that remain on the waitlist should have received a confirmation email this past weekend from “Fox Cities COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic” with a subject line that reads “You Have A COVID-19 Vaccination Appointment”
Appointment recipients also should haven gotten an automated phone call which asked recipients to check their email inbox for the confirmation email.
If someone did not see an email, officials say it may be because the email was sent to their Junk or Other folder, or the provided email address had a typo.
Those who have already received a vaccination elsewhere or need to decline their appointment can do so with the email.
“The next set of appointments is contingent on vaccine availability,” said Kurt Eggebrecht, Appleton Public Health Officer and FCCVC Incident Commander. “Although we have requested additional vaccines, due to limited supplies statewide, the number of appointments will vary from week to week.”
Due to a limited vaccine supply, health officials say the clinic’s communication team will make a ‘concerted effort’ to reach individuals who do not have internet access and people of color who are 65 and older.
According to the Wisconsin DHS, people of color have experienced higher rates of coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In comparison with white Wisconsin residents, Outagamie County says Hispanic or Latinx residents have 1.7 times greater case rates, Black residents have 2.1 times greater hospitalization rates, and American Indian residents have 1.5 times greater death rates.
“When the clinic’s vaccine supply is replenished, ongoing efforts will be made to ensure more equitable vaccine distribution, taking into account those without internet access as well as people of color who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19,” added Eggebrecht.
Those without access to the internet can begin calling on Tuesday to schedule a vaccination appointment at 920-399-2550.
