APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The 4,700 people who were mistakenly scheduled for coronavirus vaccinations in the Fox Valley will be assigned new time slots over the next two weeks.
The clinic at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center began taking appointments last Friday. There were 1,000 slots available for this week, but a configuration error led to 4,700 extra signups for this week.
“We would like to extend our gratitude for the patience and understanding from those affected,” Natalie Vandeveld, Public Health Officer/Manager for Outagamie County Public Health Division, said in a news release. “Our efforts in supporting this clinic, in a collaborative manner, helps vaccinate as many people as we can knowing the vaccine is a scarce resource that is currently in high demand.”
Health officials say the new system will not match original time requests, but will assign time slots based on when the people completed their registration. For example, someone who registered at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 will get a spot sooner in the week than someone who completed their registration at 9:35 a.m.
Those who get appointments will receive an email confirmation over the weekend from Fox Cities COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, with the subject line, “You Have An Appointment…”
Those who have already received the vaccine elsewhere or need to cancel for another reason will be able to do so.
