APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend and killing her 3-year-old daughter back in February pleaded no contest in court on Tuesday.
Demetrius Williams was also convicted of taking a hostage during a subsequent escape attempt from the Outagamie County Jail.
Charges of attempted escape and attempted homicide of an unborn child were dismissed as part of the plea deal.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 26. He faces a mandatory life prison term for the homicide count, plus 60 years for the attempted homicide. Judge Mark McGinnis will decide if Williams will ever be eligible for parole.
A March 1 trial was canceled.
Williams killed Zyana Corbin, and stabbed her mother, Tiana on Feb. 27. Tiana was pregnant with Williams’ child. Williams became upset when she said she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him.
In court Tuesday, he said he got to a “boiling point” during the argument with her at a residence on N. Kensington Drive.
Williams and Matthew Beyer – who is in custody for allegedly killing his two children at their Kaukauna home – tried to escape from the Outagamie County Jail in June. They did not escape the cellblock, much less the building.
Beyer is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 29.
