MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The American Red Cross says it’s working to fulfill the needs of those displaced by an apartment fire in Menasha.
A basement fire caused a 32-unit apartment building on Third St. to evacuate Wednesday.
No one was hurt but the organization says it is now providing temporary lodging, food and health resources to 25 displaced residents.
There are additional residents from about seven other apartment units who stayed with friends and family for the night but may need the Red Cross’ help in the near future.
At this time, the Red Cross is asking people to avoid making any physical donations such as clothing or food, as the organization is not the best agency to handle this generosity, given the pandemic and other considerations.
The Red Cross says it is working with its partners in the community and the property manager to outline needs and the next steps in the response.
If you wish help the displaced families, you can call 211.
The Red Cross will update its Facebook page on other ways the community can help out.
