ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — Bellin Health is setting up a new COVID-19 vaccination site in Ashwaubenon. The site, which will open next Monday at the Bellin Health Ashwaubenon clinic on Commanche Avenue, is part of the health group’s ever-expanding vaccination effort.
Jill Spejcher, Bellin Health team leader of clinical operations says they’re ready to start the next phase of the vaccination process, being called “Phase 1B”.
“We are ready for Phase 1B,” Spejcher said Thursday. “The state, however… what their direction is, is just because your area is ready doesn’t mean everybody else is ready.”
The clinic will not be the end of expansion for Bellin. Eventually, they’ll work to accommodate what will, at some point, be the vaccine’s public availability.
“After this, big picture, is to have a larger community space [for vaccination],” said Spejcher. “So that will be the next phase in our planning.”
Officials say public availability may not happen until sometime this summer.
Phase 1B of the vaccination process will likely involve those over the age of 70 and essential workers.
Individuals do not need to be Bellin Health patients to be vaccinated at the Ashwaubenon site. Vaccines scheduling will be available at MyBellin.org or by calling (920) 445-7313. Only individuals who qualify for the current phase of vaccination will be able to schedule vaccines.
Individuals who arrive at the new site to be vaccinated should enter the Ashwaubenon clinic at the Northwest entrance and follow the signage to the vaccination location. Masking is required. After receiving their vaccine, individuals will need to wait 15 minutes for monitoring before departing.
