GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The vaccination process is going to be long, and it’s going to be complicated.
That’s what Prevea CEO Dr. Ashok Rai told WTAQ’s ‘The Morning News with Matt and Earl’ Monday. He says testing numbers have to improve.
“Our percent positivity rate is high right now,” said Rai. “But we don’t really know why because we’re not testing enough.”
Rai says it’s possible with lackluster testing that the decline in COVID-19 cases seen over the last month may be less significant than it seems.
He says the vaccination effort is going better in some places than others.
“Every region is different, every state is different,” Rai said. “We cant just have a blanket comment that ‘it’s not going well. You have to understand that this is the beginning.”
He says the newly discovered COVID-19 variant strain, which was first found in the UK, shouldn’t disrupt vaccination in Wisconsin, and adds that Prevea is ready to expand their vaccination efforts the moment the state gives them the OK.
