GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – For the first time in almost a year, Green Bay Packers season ticket holders will attend a game at Lambeau Field.
The team announced Thursday night season ticket holders who have opted in will join front-line workers and first responders for the divisional round playoff game.
“Our players have enjoyed the energy provided by the limited fans we’ve had over the past four games,” Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to welcoming our Season Ticket Holders to add to that atmosphere in the playoffs. We’ve seen our COVID-19 protocols in action and are confident we can safely add additional fans.”
About 6,000 tickets will be available for purchase beginning next Tuesday, January 12th. Ticket holders will receive an email with more information this week.
Spectators will continue to follow the team’s COVID-19 protocols, including remaining in socially distanced “pods” unless using the restroom or purchasing food or drinks. Tailgating in the Lambeau Field parking lots is also not allowed.
The Packers played their first four home games this season without fans due to the pandemic. About 500 team employees and their families were then allowed to attend the next two home games, followed by the addition of front-line workers and first responders for the final two regular season games.
The Packers clinched the top seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the postseason with last Sunday’s 35-16 win against the Chicago Bears. The team’s divisional round game will be played January 16th or 17th.
