ST MARIE TOWNSHIP, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 35-year-old woman is dead after being found in the Fox River, according to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they received a call at 12:30 Saturday afternoon for a woman and her two dogs who could not be located after being near the river. She had been painting an outdoor scene and the caller could only locate the woman’s hat on the ice off of Huckleberry Road in St. Marie Township.
After a search involving multiple agencies, a hovercraft, drone, rescue boats, all terrain vehicles, and rescue divers, the woman was found deceased in the river at about 2:30 p.m., about 3/4 of a mile downstream from her original location.
Authorities say one of the dogs was rescued by the person who called them, and the other was not located.
The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
