BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new website has been created to help Brown County improve its internet infrastructure.
The county says it has launched a “broadband speed test initiative,” which it says will help pursue better infrastructure in under-deserved areas.
“It is our desire that everyone here in Brown County, from school-aged youth to young entrepreneurs, small business owners and older adults have fast internet speeds in order to navigate our interconnected world,” Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said in a news release. “In order to advance this goal, Brown County needs to ensure that we are getting the requisite assistance necessary to help provide for this important infrastructure.”
The county says the website will allow for accurate identification of internet access from border-to-border. A speed test tool also reports current internet speeds, which can be accessed by users.
Several organizations in the county are encouraged to promote the initiative, with the county seeking to receive grants and other funding to help expand internet access.
