GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man who allegedly fired shots into a crowd during the looting of a downtown convenience store was ordered Thursday to stand trial.
Leo Austin, 28, is charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, discharge of a firearm, disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon for the May 31 incident.
Arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 4.
What started out as peaceful protests over the death of George Floyd during the day, turned destructive. Officers were called to the Marathon Gas Station on Walnut St. for reports of shots fired from a vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.
Also during the incident, a crowd of people looted the gas station and damaged squad vehicles, including one with a K-9 officer inside. Other businesses in downtown Green Bay were damaged as well.
