APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Appleton firefighters are reminding homeowners to check their smoke alarms after a house fire.
Crews were called to the home in the 300 block of S. Midpark around 1:30 this morning.
The initial call reported the house was on fire and a person was trapped.
Upon arrival, crews saw flames coming from the basement and all occupants had safely evacuated.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and firefighters say there were no working smoke alarms in the home.
The fire is estimated to have caused $125,000 in damage to the house and contents.
