GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sunday was the second game in a row, the Packers have allowed some of its employees and their families in the stadium to practice its COVID-19 protocols.
Some of those protocols revolve around concessions.
“I think the biggest thing going into this year, we just want to make sure that our fans feel comfortable being here at Lambeau Field,” Packers director of development and hospitality Charlie Millerwise said. “One of the biggest initiatives we put forth towards that is going to completely cashless. It just eliminates touch points. When you’re transacting with your point-of-sale vendor it’s really made things a lot faster, a lot more seamless.”
“It simplifies things, you don’t have to have cash. I think it’s a really good system,” Packers fan Amy Bigue said.
Besides cashless transactions, the Packers also made changes to what they are dishing out for fans.
Millerwise tells FOX 11 draft beer has been eliminated and many things come pre-packaged and sealed.
“Things have to be a bit more streamlined. We’re not going to be able to offer all the variety of things that we have in the past, and that’s just a product of trying to keep people out of lines and waiting.”
While concessions and the overall gameday experience looks a little different this year, fans, like Amy Bigue, tell FOX 11 they’re just happy to be back experiencing a game at Lambeau.
“It’s great to be able to be there with the team and be able to support them and like I said, I think there’s a really big kudos to the Packers organization for all of the safety measures that they’ve done to make it a good experience.”
“We’ve been working since early March to be ready for a full Lambeau Field and we may not see that this year but hopefully if we do put some folks in here we’ll be ready for them,” Millerwise said.
The Packers have two remaining home games this season.
No decisions have been made yet on whether ticketed fans will be allowed in.
