GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – GBMFD units were dispatched to the LaFarge Dock this morning just before 6 a.m. for a fire on a ship.
Upon arrival it was confirmed that one of the generators had started on fire. The location of the generator was at the bow of the ship on the port side on the top floor.
The crew from the ship had extinguished the fire with an extinguisher prior to the fire department’s arrival.
GBMFD confirmed that the fire was extinguished and assisted with ventilation and looking for any extension.
The fire was contained to the generators room and is under investigation. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Port of Green Bay and the US Coast Guard were both notified and GBPD assisted with the incident.
