GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Children in the Green Bay area will have the opportunity to assist the Green Bay Metro Fire Department this winter via a new program.
The department, along with Green Bay Water Utility, are launching “Hydro’s Helpers” as a way to help keep fire hydrants free of snow.
Children are encouraged to pick a hydrant near their home and must pledge to keep it free of snow during the winter months.
Responsibilities also include reporting any hydrant damages to a local water department.
As a token of appreciation, participants will receive a certificate and attend an ice cream social event.
Children must live in Green Bay, Allouez or Bellevue to participate.
