SUN PRAIRIE, WI (WSAU) — A police chase on Interstate 94 ended when the suspect parked a stolen vehicle in the employee lot at the Sun Prairie High School and was arrested on the grounds with a loaded handgun in his possession.
Officers stopped the vehicle in Jefferson County near mile marker 255. While investigating the driver they were informed that the car had been reported as stolen in the City of Milwaukee and that the driver was wanted for armed robbery by the Department of Corrections.
When officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, they took off. This sparked a chase that reached speeds of 100 MPH before officers terminated the chase in Dane County.
Officers later found the vehicle in the parking lot of the school and called in the Sun Prairie Police Department to conduct a search of the grounds. The suspect was then arrested after a short pursuit.
