GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The head of the Republican Party of Brown County says they’re investigating reports of election irregularities in Brown County.
Brown County GOP Chair James Fitzgerald spoke briefly with WTAQ on Tuesday and outlined a number of reports they’re looking into.
“Multiple ballots being cast [by one voter],” Fitzgerald explained. “Multiple voter registration cards going out to a single voter with slight deviations in their name, votes from deceased individuals.”
Exactly how many such reports there were isn’t clear, but Fitzgerald says it’s enough to warrant looking into.
“It’s enough to raise concerns, and they’re going to be looked into,” said Fitzgerald. “They’re going to be looked into at the state level and the Trump campaign will also be taking a good look.”
Democratic Party of Brown County Chair Mike Moran says he isn’t opposed to investigating those claims.
“I would support looking into anything that’s a substantiated claim,” Moran told WTAQ. “But where is it coming from that this is happening?”
Moran doesn’t believe any impropriety occurred during the vote in Brown County, arguing that if it had, the Democrats would have done better than they did.
“Given the fact that all of our local candidates with the exception of Kristina Shelton in the 90th [State Assembly District] lost, I don’t understand what the claim is here,” said Moran.
Wisconsin’s election results are likely heading for a recount after former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democrat, barely beat out President Donald Trump in the state’s unofficial vote tally.
