MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Earlier this month, Wisconsin surpassed 5,000 daily COVID-19 cases for the first time ever.
On Friday, it surpassed 6,000.
Now, on Saturday, it has again shattered records as another 7,000 Wisconsinites have tested positive for COVID-19.
The state Department of Health Services said 7,065 tests came back positive, or 37.3% of the 18,928 total results reported. Another 45 people died.
Seven-day averages rose to 5,394 cases, 34.1% test positivity and 39 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 263,130 confirmed cases, more than 1.9 million negative tests and 2,301 deaths. DHS considers 202,879 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
As of Saturday, there were six patients at the state’s alternate care facility near Milwaukee.
