GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay community came together Thursday for a very special event.
A group of city lawmakers helped plant 100 trees at Danz Park.
The area will be known as the “Green Bay Parks Century Grove.”
It’s part of an effort to improve the area.
Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich was there and tells FOX 11 about the importance of the project.
“To kind off kick things off, we felt that this was really appropriate to do this hundred plantings, symbolizing a hundred years of service on the part of the parks department to the City of Green Bay.”
The park’s turf will be turned into plantings to benefit pollinators and other wildlife.
Custom artistic benches will also be added.
