GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – 250 physicians from health care systems across Brown County have sent a letter to Gov. Tony Evers, several elected officials and leaders across the region urging them to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
In the letter, which was sent Friday, the physicians say they are “deeply troubled by the surge in cases in our region,” citing how COVID-19 hospitalizations have tripled since the beginning of September in Green Bay hospitals.
To say that providing care to these patients is severely straining our local hospitals, health care workers and health systems is a drastic understatement. There is no other way to say it: we are overwhelmed.
The physicians encourage the promotion of “simple measures” to help stop the spread, including staying at least six feet apart from others, wearing masks and avoiding any gatherings where physical distancing and masking are not strictly being practiced.
