GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Things are starting to smooth out at the Green Bay Area School district after an unusual start to an unusual year.
Superintendent Stephen Murley says they’re seeing fewer technology issues three weeks into the year, but some students and parents are still struggling, either with the technology or with the class work itself.
“We opened up our support center last week,” Murley told Fox 11 on Monday. “That offers support in Math, English, Language Arts, Science, and also provides technology support.”
Online learning, however, is no substitute for the real thing, and Murley says they know that.
“We hope to return there as soon as possible,” he said.
Murley had advice for parents whose students may be struggling.
“School is frequently a challenge for kids, online school is no different than in person school [in that case],” Murley said. “So being supportive, making sure that where you can you’re helping them, and where you can’t then you’re getting the help that they need.”
Murley also said that some wifi hotspots that have been checked out are not being used. He encouraged any family that is not using a hotspot to return it to the school district so it can be lent to another family in need. The district has ordered more hotspots to meet the demand.
