Back in 2017, Wisconsin passed a law allowing people to grow industrial hemp and there was a lot of interest. The cannabis industry has seen more than a 400% increase in revenue and jobs in the past five years according to Green Flower, which is a national cannabis educator. Looking at Wisconsin’s hemp industry, the state gave out 1,300 permits to grow hemp in 2019.
Fast-forwarding to 2020 and you can now learn about cannabis in school. UW-Platteville just announced that in November they’ll be offering three separate certificates related to the industry. These courses are the first of it’s kind in Wisconsin.
You can choose between Business of Cannabis, Cannabis Law and Policy, and Cannabis Healthcare/Medicine. Each of these certificates would be beneficial in various majors like agriculture, business, marketing, and healthcare along with many more. All three certificates are split into three eight-week courses. This means that each course will take 24 weeks to complete.
