APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The region’s first health care center of its kind broke ground Thursday.
ThedaCare held a socially-distanced event at the site of its new Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Center at the Encircle Health Campus on Capitol Drive.
The $144 million center will feature a specialty hospital, enhancing care that is designed around patients and families.
It will include a warm-therapy pool, a simulation apartment to allow patients and families to prepare for life post-discharge, private recovery rooms, a restaurant and heated discharge area where patients leave the hospital.
Approximately 75 healthcare jobs are expected to be created with the opening of the new center, plus the equivalent of an additional 200 construction jobs.
Construction is expected to be complete in the summer of 2022.
