TWO CREEKS, WI (WTAQ) – Siren tests are planned for Manitowoc County.
From Aug. 31 through Sept. 11, with the exception of Labor Day, the Point Beach Nuclear Plant will perform maintenance on a number of sirens located within ten miles of the plant.
During testing, residents may hear actual sirens for about one to three minutes and notice activity going on around the siren sites.
The sirens are owned and maintained by the plant and are activated by Manitowoc County during emergencies. They are routinely checked to make sure they are in working order.
If members of the public are unsure whether or not the activities may be related to the maintenance, call (920) 683-4201 for verification.
In the event of an actual emergency, call 911.
