APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Appleton Fire Department says an automatic fire sprinkler system kept a fire at an city business under control.
Crews were called to the 2600 block of W. Second Street just after 5 a.m. today (Tuesday) for a report of a water flow alarm.
Upon arrival, crews found a fire in a piece of machinery that traveled through a duct to another room.
The fire sprinkler system in the building was controlling the fire, which was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
No one was hurt. The fire caused approximately $10,000 worth of damage.
The cause of the fire is believed to be a process malfunction.
Appleton Fire says the business is open today because of the properly functioning sprinkler and alarm systems.
