MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – Manitowoc firefighters are stressing the importance of working smoke detectors following an apartment fire.
Crews were called to a two-family home in the 1200 block of S. 13th St. around 12:30 this morning for a fire on the second floor.
Before firefighters arrived, all residents were able to make it out safely.
Once crews gained entry though an exterior stairwell, the fire was discovered in the living room area and brought under control within 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and it’s unknown at this time how much the damage will cost.
Both families are being assisted by the Red Cross.
