SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — While many events were put on pause during the pandemic, outdoor festivals continue to bloom.
Blasers Acres’ first annual Sunflower Fest is one of many.
“We’ve been thinking about it for a long time and we really didn’t know what to do with the sunflowers and then we got a contract this year for the seed, the birdseed so we decided what a better time to get the fest going,” Blasers Acres owner Chris Blaser said.
“I love sunflowers, and I’m with his mom who also loves sunflowers, and I’m with my mom who also likes sunflowers,” Sunflower Fest patron Faith Rafferty said.
Blaser said the fields are on ten acres of land.
“There’s plenty of room for everybody to stretch out and be away,” Blaser said.
“I think it’s great because we’re all outside so it gives us room to have space with each other but it also gives us something to do besides staying inside and being in quarantine because we all know that’s not that fun,” Rafferty said.
And sunflowers weren’t the only thing the festival had to offer.
“The bounce houses, the sunflower maze, the food,” Colton Blaser said.
“We’ve been real busy even yesterday with the rain people were excited to come out and see the flowers and do all the fun stuff and activities,” Chris Blaser said.
Blasers Acres owner Chris Blaser says people want to spend their time outside.
“We’ve noticed a big increase at our fruit stands from this. People like shopping outdoors. Anything outdoors has been real popular this year,” Chris Blaser said.
SunFlower Fest is on for next weekend as well.
