ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – There could be a new music venue coming to Ashwaubenon.
Ash Investors LLC is hoping to turn half of the former Gordmans building into an indoor concert venue called “The Epic.”
“Trying to pack some of the retail spaces sitting out there existing in the market and all markets right now, there’s been kind of a trend to come up with new concepts, different things from adult amusement, entertainment areas, concert venues, similar to what we’re proposing here.”
Ash Investors LLC developer Rich Otradovec tells FOX 11 the venue could fit up to 2,000 people.
“We would have in the neighborhood of about maybe 70 to 80 shows a year and it would strictly be used for that.”
Otradovec says he doesn’t want to tear the building down and start over.
He wants to reimagine and improve what’s already there.
Otradovec says “The Epic” will be suitable for music lovers of all kinds.
“We’re really not restricting ourselves to one target market. There’s going to be shows that are going to be obviously newer bands that may be geared more towards the younger audience and there’s going to be some classics whether it’s rock n’ roll, country, different bands like that.”
Otradovec expects the remodel to cost about 2.5 to three million dollars.
Ashwaubenon Village President Mary Kardoskee says even though live music is hard to find right now, she has high hopes for the venue.
“We’re hoping that you know everything’s going to go well and we’re going to be back to normal pretty soon and we’re going to have indoor events and it’s a perfect spot for it and it’ll fill up a building.”
The Village Board could weigh in by the end of the month.
