GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – While some school district’s in NE Wisconsin will be starting this fall online….many others will be welcoming students back into the classroom. And many of them will be riding the bus.
But in the era of COVID 19 things will operate a little differently.
Jim Gamble is with Lamers, one of the major school bus operators in the region. He tells FOX 11 for drivers, changes will start immediately.
“We’re starting with the social distancing rules, whether it’s heere at the terminal when they come in in the morning.”
And once they get behind the wheel….
“Drivers are going to be wearing the masks while they’re driving. We’re encouraging the hand sanitizer.”
As far as students. Gamble says they’ll need to be masked, and….
“We’ll be going with the one child, two seat. Or one family unit per seat so two siblings can sit together.”
Another things Lamers is doing is increase the frequency for cleaning of buses. They’ll be going from what had been a weekly or even every other week schedule….to every day and sometimes multiple cleaning in a day.
Even with the pandemic, Lamers is also continuing to look for drivers.
