APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — Shawano, Brown, and now Outagamie County.
The sheriff’s in each of those Northeast Wisconsin counties have announced that they won’t be directly enforcing the mask mandate signed by Governor Tony Evers Thursday set to take effect Saturday.
Outgamie County Sheriff Sgt. Nathan Borman says not to call the Sheriff’s Office or the Outagamie County Communications Center to report individuals not wearing a mask.
“We recognize COVID-19 is a legitimate public health concern so, for the health and safety of our community, we encourage everyone to continue to follow the CDC guidelines,” Borman wrote in a press release. “This enforcement response is consistent with most, if not all, of the other Sheriff’s Offices throughout Northeast Wisconsin.”
