CHICAGO, IL (WTAQ) – A big 4th inning was too much for the Brewers to overcome in a 9-1 loss to the Cubs on Sunday afternoon.
Chicago posted 4 runs in that frame including three run-scoring singles by Ian Happ, Victor Caratini, and Nico Hoerner. They added 3 more in the 8th including a two-run shot by Happ for good measure.
Milwaukee’s lone run came in the 5th on a pop fly by Orlando Arcia that scored Omar Narvaez.
That was one of just three hits in the ballgame for the Crew. Ben Gamel and Justin Smoak provided the others.
Former LA Angels starter Tyler Chatwood picked up the win for the Cubs. Starter Freddie Peralta was tagged with the loss for the Brewers after just 3 innings. He gave up four earned runs on just three hits.
The loss drops the Brewers to 1-2 on the young season. They begin a three-game set with Pittsburgh tonight.
