APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – It’s been 30 years since the passage of the American with Disabilities Act, prohibiting discrimination based on disability and Sunday has been designated as ADA Day in the City of Appleton.
Valley Transit General Manager Ron McDonald says they take the ADA very seriously.
“And how do we move forward and be better at providing access for everybody with differing levels of abilities.”
It’s part of every decision for the Fox Valley based system. McDonald is especially proud of Valley Transit’s Mobility Management Division.
“We have staff available that can actually assist, one on one, for any individual and let them learn how to use the system.”
They specialize in working with people on all levels of ability on how to ride the bus.
“It’s really to able to allow everybody to have equal access to our services.”
With 18 fixed routes, covering 117 square miles throughout the region, Valley Transit also offers para-transit and demand response services.
