GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — For the first time, the number of new coronavirus cases in Wisconsin has topped 1,000.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 1,117 new positive tests on Tuesday. There were also 13,371 negative tests. The positive test rate of 7.7% was down from Monday.
The state also reported 13 new deaths, bringing the total in Wisconsin to 859. It was the most deaths reported in a single day since June 20.
While new infections were up, hospitalizations were down slightly in Wisconsin. Hospitals said they were caring for 354 patients with positive coronavirus tests, 13 fewer than on Monday. Of those, 101 were in intensive care units, nine fewer than on Monday. However, another 190 patients were waiting for the test results, a one-day increase of 44.
As of Tuesday, there were 1,267 ventilators in Wisconsin hospitals, with 303 in use, 12 more than on Monday.
Of the 11,398 hospital beds in Wisconsin, 2,465 were available.
