APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Not at the same level of Milwaukee or Brown County, positive test cases of the coronavirus have been on the way up in Appleton.
Health Officer Kurt Eggebrecht, a guest WTAQ’s ‘Morning News with Matt & Earl’, says as of today (Monday) there have been 332 cases of COVID 19.
“Have experienced our highest case counts the last 3 weeks in a row”
The age range is across the board, with the number of young victims, in the 20-something range, on the rise.
“We’re also seeing even younger than that however. So that’s concerning as well.”
Eggebrecht says they haven’t had too many problems with contact tracing when it comes to co-operation…but people need to think hard about where they’ve been.
“That they really take time to think through where all they were, so we can get the best picture that we can to help with contact tracing.”
He’s happy to see more businesses requiring customers wear face masks….and more communities mandating, or looking into mandating, them as well.
Eggebrecht says until there’s a vaccine, masking up and social distancing is the best way to the slow the spread of the virus.
