MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — Department of Health Services Secretary Designee Andrea Palm is encouraging Wisconsinites to stay home after yet another day of record newly-reported COVID-19 cases.
DHS reported 964 new cases on Tuesday for a total of 37,906 in the state.
Six more new deaths were reported as well, the first new deaths reported since Saturday. That brings the total to 826.
Hospitalizations also jumped by 42. A total of 293 people are being treated for COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning. That is 10 more than on Monday and the most since June 11. However, the number of people in intensive care units dropped by two to 83.
The state’s recovery rate–once around 80%–has dropped in recent days to around 77% as the share of active cases rises.
