ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — A few dozen ‘Black Lives Matter’ protesters demonstrated on Oneida Street Tuesday evening.
Police shut down a portion of the road as the demonstration went on, which included chanting in the middle of the intersection at Oneida and Anderson Drive. When WTAQ News arrived on scene around 7:15 p.m., squad vehicles were blocking entrance to the street from Willard Drive to Pilgrim Way. Protesters then moved west on Anderson Drive and the area was quickly reopened.
Demonstrators have held several demonstrations in Brown County since the Memorial Day weekend death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis Police. Floyd, who was black, had an officer kneel down on his neck for over eight minutes.
