GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The 4th of July holiday is already a slow one for area restaurants, but things were worse this year.
“People leave town… they head up north to cabins or hit lakes and head to Door County,” Brad Toll said.
Toll, the President and CEO of Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau, says COVID-19 made what is already a slow day, even slower.
As owner of Stadium View Bar & Grille, Amanda Watson feels the pinch.
There wasn’t really anybody coming down this street at all,” Watson said. “It was about 15% slower than the normal 4th of July weekend.”
Across town at Hinterland Brewery, operation manager Rob Czypinski felt it too.
“We’re running about 50% less volume than what we had been seeing a year ago today,” Czypinski said.
Both restaurants are banking on the Packers taking the field this season, to bring back some business.
